Transportation Capital Stock Per VMT in Minnesota Counties ($/Mile)

This figure shows two types of transportation capital stocks – trunk highways and local roads – in Minnesota counties, normalized by vehicle-miles traveled (VMT). The capital stocks are accumulated historical transportation investments since 1985, after accounting for annual inflations and facility depreciation. Comparing the two plots, which are prepared in the same scale, we can see that local road expenditures are in substantively larger amounts than trunk highway expenditures over time.
