TPEC Researchers on the move

TPEC is pleased to welcome Kaitlyn Denten as Infrastructure Policy Researcher and thanks Matthew Land for his service as a Research Assistant while wishing him the best in his new endeavors!

Kaitlyn Denten

Kaitlyn has joined IURIF as a full-time researcher. Her first day was January 6th.  Kaitlyn received her BS in Architecture in 2020 and her MURP in 2023, both from here at the U of MN - so she knows us well!  (Indeed, we managed to just miss figuring out how to bring her on board as an RA a few years ago . . . .).

She has been working as a transportation planner with the City of Minneapolis since graduation, and has interned at MetroTransit and Dakota County, and some of you may also know her from when she worked as an RA at the Accessibility Observatory at CTS - in other words, she's caught the research bug!

On TPEC, she'll be initially contributing to work related to the finance area, with a focus on reports utilizing the Transportation Finance Database, but given her skills, these responsibilities may grow and broaden soon!

Matthew was a graduate research assistant for the Fall 2024 semester. During his time at TPEC he contributed to the update of the Minnesota Roadway Funding: Revenue Sources & Distribution report and to building a database for the analysis of the distribution of charging stations across Minnesota. Matthew completed his Masters’ in Applied Economics at the University of Minnesota.

In January 2025, Matthew started work as an Associate at RMI, a non-profit seeking to transform global energy systems through market-driven solutions, where he supports efforts to advance state-level climate policies.

TPEC is proud to have benefitted from the efforts of many Research Assistants over our 10+ years as a program. We featured those students in our 10-year retrospective published last year at tpec.umn.edu/decade.
