A Visit in Pictures: Intermodal competitiveness in the south metro

January 23, 2025

Last November, TPEC's Frank Douma, Camila Fonseca-Sarmiento, Audrey Clark, and John Siqveland were graciously hosted at Progressive Rail in Lakeville, Minn. by longtime TPEC Advisory Board member and chair of the MN House Transportation Policy & Finance Committee, Rep. Jon Koznick, Progressive Rail CEO Andrea Dobbelmann, and Jack Matasosky, Broker/Owner of CERRON Commercial Properties.

Located in the Airlake Industrial Park, Progressive Rail is a provider of railroad transportation and freight management services. The company manages a shortline railroad operating, several separate branches intended to offer trans-loading, warehousing and other commercial transportation-related services.

Following a screening of a video history of the Airlake Industrial Park, the group had a wide-ranging discussion about intermodal transportation past, present, and future. This unique location in the south metro has been designed and developed as a hub of transportation, freight, and logistics activity and opportunity served by rail, highway, and Airlake Airport. This was followed by a tour of the Progressive Rail facility and grounds. Findings from the visit will be incorporated into TPEC research projects and future partnership opportunities.
